The components made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP) are particularly used in the aircraft industry, because they have a high strength (at least 800 MPa) and a very little specific gravity (1.55 kg/dm³). The desirable use of these components in other industrial sectors, e.g. as weight-critical parts in mechanical engineering, is constricted by the high price of source materials: carbon fibres or so-called prepregs (preimpregnated carbon fibre-fabric and -warp cloths).
HADEG Recycling Ltd manufactures such CFRP-components much cheaper, as prepreg clippings are used. A method which permits cost-effctive processing of prepregs without the aircraft component technique using an autoclave has been developed together with the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg resulting in a reduction of strength by only 10 %. A cost-effective machining service by a specialised company can be included within the price.
The prepregs are aviation quality: HTS-yarn with 6000 single fibres with 35 or 40 % resin content, fabric with the weave type satin 1/4 (thickness of 0.35 mm) or unidirectional warp cloths interwoven with 4 % glass fibres with a thickness of 0.125 or 0.25 mm. The hardening of the prepregs usually takes place at 130 °C, when required 180 °C is also possible. A requested arrangement of prepreg layers can be considered.
The CFRP components are manufactured by putting one trimmed prepreg layer on top of another in moulds made of wood or metal, and by curing with temperature and pressure. Then as far as required they are made to measure. Prospective buyers are asked for a drawing of the component with details for processing. Then an offer without obligation is made. The mould costs incurred are to be beared by the customer.
The CFRP sheets are available in sizes up to 2450 mm x 1200 mm (600 x 400 mm, 400 x 300 mm or smaller are usual). Because of thickness of the fabric only thicknesses in multiples of 0.35 mm (thickness-tolerance of ±10%) are possible. Made of prepreg remnants from the aircraft industry, carbon fibre-fabric made of HTS-fibre-yarn with 6000 single fibres, fabric-weave: satin 1/4, areal weight of the fabric: 370 g/m², dull surface, laminate structure: 0°/90° (at request others as well).

Lightweight sheets and sandwich components are made of polyamide paper (aviation quality) with honeycombed cores that have a thickness of 4 - 55 mm. Number and arrangement of surface layers are to be agreed.
